Our family got this recipe from some friends and have been making this stuff for years. I can tell ya that it's quick, mildly good for you, and it's delicious. The base recipe is just oats, butter, and sugar, but we've expanded past that adding assorted yummies to the mix because the base is rather boring.

1/2 cup butter (maybe you could substitute coconut oil and add a little salt)

1/3 cup brown sugar (can be substituted with coconut sugar)

7-9 cups of oats, depending on your sweet tooth

Optional:

A few handfuls of chopped nuts

A handful of dried fruit

Wheat germ to taste

Cinnamon

Shredded coconut

1. In a large pot or saucepan, melt the butter. Add brown sugar, stir, and let dissolve as much as possible. If you are using nuts, you can add them in now for a nice toasted flavor.

2. Gradually start mixing in the oats, stirring with a spoon. If you're using any of the optional ingredients, stir them in with the oats.

All done. Enjoy!
